One of the great advantages of living on an island is that the sea horizon will always accompany you as the best background for saying goodbye to the sun every evening.

This is one of the most exciting moments on the island, where hundreds of people head west in search of the best places from which to contemplate this colorful spectacle of nature. Here we show you seven amazing places so you can find your special spot when the so expected time of sunset arrives.

Cala de Portinatx
In the north west coast is where Portinatx, one of the most important tourist areas on the island, is located and where you can find several beaches perfect for sitting and watching the waves break on the shore. Not all year round we can enjoy how the sun fully sinks in the sea, but it is beautiful to see how the sun plays hide and seek with the mountains in the area leaving a trail of light reflected on the sea.

Cala Benirràs
In this popular and lively beach you can find the ‘hippest’ sunset as every Sunday hundreds of drums and percussion instruments are played to farewell the sun. Here the sundown takes on another meaning when you contemplate the horizon from here, as in the center of the bay rises a stunning 27m high islet, known as Cap Bernat, which silhouette is dim leaving behind the warm rays of sun. A great choice if you want to enjoy Ibiza’s bohemian and lively fiesta.

Na Xamena
Na Xamena, in the Sant Miquel area, has one of the most breathtaking sunsets on the island which you can see from the top of the cliffs. You have two options, delve into nature in search of the perfect rock to sit and enjoy the scenery, or sit at any of the tables of Hacienda hotel where you will have front-row seat while enjoying a cocktail, which is the perfect touch to complete the sunset experience.

Platges de Comte
In the westernmost tip of the island, we find the natural paradise beach of Platges de Comte, a perfect natural spot with turquoise waters that you will definitely love. That is why we highly recommend to go there before sunset, so you can enjoy a lovely swim in its lovely waters. It is said that here you can watch the most captivating sunset on the island because the horizon is dotted with several islets which are part of a very attractive nature reserve. The perfect setting to watch a unique and special sunset.

Cala d’Hort
In the southwest of the island you’ll find this beautiful beach overlooking the mythical island of Es Vedrà, behind of which the Ibizan sun is hidden. This beach is perfect for sitting on the sand and feel the magic of the landscape. But if you still want to get better views, you can tour the coast to the southern cliffs where you will see an old tower on the hillside. You can access the inside of the tower and from its heights you can improve, if possible, the spectacular views over Es Vedrà and the see naturally decorated by the red and orange tones of the sun which will then give way to dusk.
