Today we are going to show you a very tempting plan: a day in our neighbor island Formentera. So, what do you think?… Crystal clear water, long thin sand beaches and incredible sunsets. Enjoy a full day in Formentera, sail its coasts, swim in its blue turquoise sea, take a walk along the white sand seashore or simply rent a bicycle and discover its secrets.
Formentera is one of those visits you can consider a must if you are spending a few days in Ibiza. Besides having the best beaches in the Mediterranean it keeps some secrets we’ll try to reveal you here.
From Ibiza town’s port, you can take many different ferries that take you to Formentera’s main port, La Savina. It’s a very nice ferry ride, between islets and through the sea in which its seabed has the main Posidonia walls, which are part of the World Heritage. The ride will be no longer than 25 minutes. Once you arrive to Formentera, in the same port, there’s a wide range offer of vehicle rentals. In a motorbike, car or even in a bicycle you can get to know this wonderful island.
The island of Formentera will let you enjoy a wide variety of beaches, from the most hidden and incredible ones to the beaches with more atmosphere and most visited. But all of them with a unique beauty, like Ses Salines, a natural reserve of flora and fauna. Or Ses Illetes beach, which is not easy to describe all of its beauty. An extensive unspoilt beach surrounded by seawater in both sides, white thin sand and where the sun shines very strongly. Cap de Barbaría, an attractive and with a wild look cliff with a charming lighthouse and the beautiful Mediterranean sea in the background. Playa de Migjorn, a beach with clean crystal clear water, sand dunes, forested areas and some of the most lively beach bars “chiringuitos“ in the island. Cala Saona, a very interesting beach, though not very big, its hidden location starting at the foot of a mountain between pinewoods and the incredible sunsets make it a very special beach. Es Caló, a little fishermen’s port with crystal clear water, white sand and dry-dock stalls. La Mola, a natural cliff with amazing sea views, where peace and silence will absorb you. And in the little village there’s an interesting craft market every Wednesday and Saturday.
And of course, in Formentera you can enjoy the best cuisine with local products, especially fish and seafood. Fabulous paellas and fish dishes. Some restaurants we recommend are Es Molí de Sal at Illetes beach, Pequeña Isla at La Mola, Can Rafalet at Es Caló, Can Blaiet at La Mola, Juan y Andrea at Illetes or Sa Platgeta at Migjorn beach.
