A way of life shaped by the sun, the sea and the land has given Ibiza an exquisite and truly <strong>unique cuisine<\/strong> that rewards all five senses. Nutritious yet simple dishes made with seasonal products masterfully combine the fruits of the land with the cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s a cuisine based on the Mediterranean <strong>trilogy of wheat, wine and olive oil.<\/strong> Succulent culinary traditions and techniques are still applied today, such as salting and drying fish, cooking with <strong>aromatic herbs<\/strong>, using vinegar as a preservative, adding spices like saffron and sea salt to enrich the menu and relying on sugar and cinnamon to sweeten desserts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ok__0000_P1108126.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4396\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ok__0000_P1108126.jpg\" alt=\"ok__0000_P1108126\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"docs-internal-guid-88d777ab-7fff-b53c-a136-0576a20a8f35\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Fresh produce<\/strong> and <strong>premium quality<\/strong> ingredients are the two cornerstones of Ibizan cuisine. Surf and turf come together to create a varied repertoire of ingredients and products. Fish and seafood, meat and game, poultry and eggs, fruit and vegetables, wild mushrooms and even more wild mushrooms, as well as a whole host of preserves, spices, plants and<strong> aromatic herbs,<\/strong> all add a truly special flavour to the Ibizan recipe book.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And such a diverse selection of aromas and flavours will definitely seduce your palate. A wealth of &#8216;<strong>sofritos<\/strong>&#8216; and salsas based around olive oil, onions, tomatoes and garlic; seasonings such as parsley, dried peppers and almonds; and turn-to vegetables such as potatoes and peppers give a very personal touch to the typical dishes prepared in the kitchens of homes and restaurants in Ibiza.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ok__0002_P1012463.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4398\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ok__0002_P1012463.jpg\" alt=\"ok__0002_P1012463\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"docs-internal-guid-c1a9cd1a-7fff-ecbd-2933-f0cab62597e6\" dir=\"ltr\">Some of the tastiest island specialities include: &#8216;arr\u00f2s de matances&#8217; (rice stew with offal); fish paellas and seafood stews; hearty meat and vegetable stews; &#8216;sofrit pay\u00e9s&#8217; (a spicy lamb and chicken stew with potatoes and sobrasada and botifarr\u00f3 sausages); <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/blog\/bullit-de-peix-el-plato-con-mas-sabor-a-ibiza\/\">&#8216;<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canplanells.com\/blog\/bullit-de-peix-a-dish-that-epitomizes-ibiza\/\"><strong>bullit de peix<\/strong>&#8216;<\/a> (rockfish and potato stew with a light aioli sauce); &#8216;borrida de ratjada&#8217; (ray fish with potatoes); fried pork, squid or octopus, all accompanied by potatoes and peppers; locally-caught fish (grouper is a favourite); roast meats (the suckling pig is outstanding); calamari stuffed with sobrasada sausage, coca bread with roast peppers and anchovies; or pork bones with cabbage, sweet potato and sobrasada sausage.
